HOW IT WORKS
Guests come up one at a time. We talk for a minute or two,
about something simple, or something real.
Then I write.
Each poem is typed live on a vintage typewriter and handed over on the spot, signed. Because every poem is written in real time for the person in front of me, I write 6 to 10 poems per hour depending on the format of your event. Nothing is pre-written. That's the point.

WHAT KIND OF POEMS CAN YOU EXPECT?
Free-verse poems shaped by a brief conversation and the moment we're in. A few lines to a few stanzas. They often put words to something people didn't quite know how to say. Guests keep the original, typed page: a small artifact of the experience that outlasts the moment.

MORE ABOUT ME:
Hi, I'm Ka'eo.
I'm a poet of Hawaiian and Japanese descent, and a 2026 KDA Individual Artists Fellow, awarded through the California Arts Council. I've published two collections: Everything Is a Poem, winner of the 2025 International Impact Book Award, and Turbulence & Tenderness. I have been featured on ABC30, and I write for strangers every week because I believe poetry is society's permission to say tender things out loud.
